Blog 23: Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?
A: I am very proud of the fact of how I kind of interacted with the students a bit during my presentation. I have a pretty broad and straightforward topic and I can lose the audience anyways and thus, by having them interact and communicate with each other at some point during my presentation is really nice.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
A: I really like how I was able to work with others during my entire mentorship experience. I also like how I was able to restart my topic as well. Going from a sport to something completely different like animal shelters wasn't easy but I had managed to pull through.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
A: I think I would've loved to find a mentor just in time because it was complicated for me to go back and restart my project all over again mid-end first semester. It was hard trying to catch up on some work sometimes, so I think I would've liked to have taken more advantage of my time when it came to finishing those assignments.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.
A: I believe that it has helped me open my mind to an entirely different world of making a difference. It will definitely make me want to try and go and make a difference in the No-Kill community. Now that I am also 18, it can also make me think about joining the Pittie Crew (Pitbull Rescue Group) and rescue the breed that is the most discriminated against.

1.) What is your EQ?
       EQ: What is the most important factor to make a new animal at ease in a shelter?
2.) What is your first answer?
       A: My first answer was Vacancy and how sanitation and necessities are important when bringing in a new animal.
3.) What is your second answer?
       A: My second answer would most likely be consistency simply because shelter animal have to have a daily routine just like humans do. They have time where they can walk, eat, and take medication (if they are taking any.
4.) List 3 reasons your answer is true with a real world application for each.

• People take medication within a time period, animals have to do that too
• People go do their daily routine like go to work and school, animals take walks 
• People eat dinner around a certain time, animals have a certain time of the day to eat too

5.) What printed source best supports your answer?
       A: A printed source would be the animalsheltering.org magazine and a book called Exploding Ants: Amazing Facts About How Animals Adapt.
6.) What other source supports your answer?
       A: a website (animalsheltering.org) supports my answer because it provides a section that has articles relating to how much an animal should be fed and how the exercise routine is like in a shelter.
7.) Concluding thought.
       Animal consistency can range from about medication times, feeding time, exercise and socialization. This can affect an animals though

Lesson 2 Reflection

1.) What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?

       A: I think I am proud that I attempted to go up and tried to memorize what I had to say. I tried.

2a.) What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation?

       A: A low AP

       b.)  Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract?

          A: I deserve that grade because I did not recite any of my sources I had listed and my hook activity was not very well put together.

3.) What worked for you in your Lesson 2?

       A: My activity was fun. My powerpoint had actual photos of animals from the place where I mentor at.

4.) What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?

       A: My research was not included! & my hook activity was not very well though out. I stuttered! If I could go back and improve my lesson 2 I would have prepared my presentation more better and make it flow. I would come up with a better hook activity and explain more of my research.

5.) What do you think your answer #2 is going to be? 

       A: Consistency. And a strong leader to make the dog change it's way.

Lesson 1 Reflection

1.)  What are you most proud of your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
       A: I am most proud of the fact that I kept the audience engaged and entertained. I felt like the audience was really paying attention to what I had to say. 

2.)  a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 presentation? (Self assessment)
       A: I would give myself about an AP. Simply because I turned in my rough draft lesson plan late. I also believe that I didn't really have much to say about certain things that I had mentioned in my topic.  

      b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
       A: I believe that I deserve an AP, due to the fact that I turned in my rough draft lesson plan late. I also feel like I didn't give out too much information as I would have liked to. 

3.) What worked for you in your Lesson 1? 
       A: Well I am glad the audience engaged in my presentation. I also like how I drew a small image on the board that related to my presentation. Pacing worked just as well too, it shows I used my spacing efficiently. 

4.) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
       A: I think I would've liked to better prepare myself for the presentation. Also, I think I would've liked to show a video about what I talked about as an example.
